Michael Newman

Librarian and Learning Support

Michael Newman joined the Gig Harbor Academy Faculty in 2022. He earned his BA in History from Pacific Lutheran University and MA in Education from Radford University in Virginia. He brings over a decade of experience teaching first through fifth grades in Washington and Texas, most recently teaching in Clover Park and Puyallup School Districts. Preschool through fifth grade students at GHA enjoy weekly visits to the library with Mr. Michael, which include an animated and interactive read-aloud and book check-out time. He also partners with our elementary teachers to provide individualized and small group intervention/acceleration to students. He believes the classroom should be a safe environment for students and teachers to learn, take risks and grow.
