Liz Schaller

1st/2nd Grade Teacher

Liz Schaller grew up in nearby Port Orchard but proceeded to live in four other states before ultimately returning to the Pacific Northwest. Graduating from the University of Georgia with a BA in Political Science and International Affairs, she began her teaching career in Highland Park
Independent School District in Dallas, Texas. Upon returning to Washington, Liz earned her M.Ed. from Western Governors University. A self-described “bibliophile,” Liz’s interests are not confined to the indoors. In the realm of outdoor learning, she has worked as a COPE director, backpacking guide, and ski instructor.

Ms. Schaller’s Favorites

GHA Tradition: I love Gig Harbor Academy’s focus on learning beyond the classroom.

Neighborhood Spot: The Library! My boys and I try to go once a week to pick out something new to read.

Outdoor Activity: Hiking, camping, and white water rafting.

Place to Read: Anywhere! I always have a book or two downloaded on my phone through the Libby app.

Childhood Memory: Spending time in the woods or down at the beach near my house, building forts and exploring with my siblings and nextdoor neighbors.
